Personal & Relationship Counselling and Psychotherapy in Plymouth

We understand that everyone encounters problems at some point in their life. You may feel like you are in a rut and don’t know how to get out of it. Certain challenging emotions, such as depression or anxiety, can end up affecting you on a daily basis, causing you to feel isolated from other people. In moments like these, counselling offers the space you need to process these feelings in a healthy, gradual way, and always on your own terms.

Our team of experienced counsellors are equipped to provide individualised, targeted support to people going through a wide range of problems. The diversity in our organisation means we have specialists in numerous areas, such as bereavement, eating disorders, addiction, sexual issues, sexuality and identity issues, trauma, gender and young people issues. We always take care to understand your unique situation and will work with you to develop a personalised way of working through the issues that directly tackles the problems you face, enabling you to live a more fulfilled, peaceful life.

Addiction

Our addiction specialists offer a compassionate, holistic approach to help you overcome harmful behaviours that are negatively impacting your life. We recognise that addiction is not a choice but a complex response to underlying emotional pain. Our focus is on addressing the root causes of this pain, rather than simply suppressing symptoms.

Whether you are addicted to alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, or any other behaviour/substance, telling people to ‘simply stop’ or ‘just say no’ doesn’t work. We will create a supportive therapeutic space where we can explore the underlying issues driving your addiction, and work together to develop healthier coping mechanisms.

Bereavement

Experiencing the loss of a loved one is never easy and trying to deal with it alone can make the situation even harder. Everyone experiences grief in their own unique way, with different feelings emerging for different people. It is important that you have a safe, judgement-free space in which to vocalise these feelings and have them validated by one of our counsellors.

We are here to listen, giving you the floor to voice your emotions in any way you see fit, and in your own time. Eventually, when the time is right, we will work with you to develop a personalised way of moving through the different stages of loss and coming to a place of acceptance.

Gender, Sexuality and Identity

Individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community often face challenges in finding professionals with the expertise to provide affirmative, non-discriminatory therapy. It can feel isolating, but we are here to support you. Our organisation includes experienced practitioners trained to offer help that directly addresses the unique issues faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals.

We have extensive experience working with people whose gender and/or sexuality is misunderstood, disrespected, or unrecognized by family, friends, co-workers, and society at large. We create a welcoming, affirmative environment where you can discuss these issues and work towards a better place.

No matter if you identify as transgender, non-binary, gender-expansive, genderqueer, gender fluid, agender, prefer not to use labels, or are unsure about your identity, we are here to provide ongoing support for the everyday challenges you face. This support can address a variety of issues, including fear of rejection, discrimination, anxiety about coming out, relationship problems, marriage and parenting concerns, or confusion about gender and/or sexuality.

Young People

Young people face a variety of unique challenges as they transition from childhood to adulthood. This period can be overwhelming due to the rapid changes that occur.
